We often work with people who are currently in therapy, so that on returning home your experience can be integrated with the help of the professional who best knows you. However, we also assist people who seek a spiritual and emotionally healing Journey, but who are not in treatment; please contact us for further information. We highly recommend the services of a trained Psychedelic Integration Therapist for those not in psychotherapy, once before coming in preparation, and at least several times on return to your home.
Before you come, Beyond Institute will be happy to confer with your therapist to identify issues and conditions that might impact your experience. We are happy to have a conversation with you, too, and answer your questions before you arrive.
Our Guides have all had personal experience with entheogens, training in indigenous practices of psilocybin Ceremony, and attend outside workshops. We come from medico-professional fields of previous experience and licensure, and use an adaptation of the MAPS (Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies) protocol, combined with spiritual intentions and practices from the Divine Assembly as well as the Native American Church and its Ceremony.
Our goal is to help you feel safe in letting go of ego defenses, silencing the default mode network, and going Beyond, where the most intense spiritual healing occurs. Information and advice before, as well as reassurance, check-ins, and simply your Guide's constant presence during the Journey help to ensure this. We then help with initial processing and integration of your experience, and are happy to refer you to trained Psychedelic Integration therapists, if you or your therapist wish.

Another highly recommended resource is Michael Pollan's book: "How To Change Your Mind."
We also recommend: "Trust, Surrender, Receive" by Anne Other.
Regarding microdosing: "A Really Good Day" by Ayelot Waldman.
Finally: "The Psychedelic Explorer's Guide," and "Your Symphony of Selves;" both by James Fadiman.
Be sure and check under "Resources" - click on the tab above, you may have to open "More" depending on your browser - here you will find instructions and paperwork.
We begin at 9 am. You will have already filled out a short form to assess your latest health status, current medications, prior experience with ethneogens, and your intention in your Journey. Any potential problems are addressed at this point, although more commonly they're resolved before arrival. We then hold a group orientation, as needed.
You will spend individual time with your lead Guide, set up your individual space, explore the purpose and use of eye shades and headphones, the bathroom facilities, the role of the Guide, and review the advisability of relaxing, letting go, and embracing the experience.
Next, around 9:30, we often begin breathing exercises and other grounding techniques, and final preparations.
The medicine is given in a tea, and you will begin your Journey sometime between 10 and 10:30. The actual Journey is 3-5 hours long, leaving 1-3 hours for initial integration, as needed.
The costs of the Journey for clients comprise travel costs, a donation to the Institute of $1150, and lodging.
Clients in Salt Lake are booking AirBnB space for the night before through the morning after their Journey - two days. We find that this cost is generally lower than hotel accommodations, and is more convenient for clients before the experience. An added bonus: not having to travel to another location right afterward.
Occasionally, if there are enough clients to justify holding space elsewhere, we have worked in other cities. Currently this is on hold because of the pandemic. If the Beyond Institute holds Ceremony in your location, we travel there and book our lodging and the work space to be used. Our costs rise, and the donation rises accordingly. Currently that amounts to between $1250 and $1450, depending on distance and number of people Journeying. This often saves our clients considerable cost, as they can travel to us for free and need no lodging. Generally we do this if three to four people a day, for two to four days, are interested and make deposit.
Each client also must certify that they will honor the Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct required for membership in the Divine Assembly, then complete their paperwork to become a member. There is no charge for joining the Divine Assembly,
Absolutely no clients will be seen without completing this important step, which protects clients and Beyond Institute from legal risk.
You will directly contact the Beyond Institute and make your appointment for your Journey, after referral by your therapist (if applicable). We have openings Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Occasionally we do have Saturdays available.
You will also need to fill out some forms, and print, sign, and return the Codes of Ethics and Conduct.
Donations for deposit can be made using PayPal (at: paypal.me/BeyondInstitute) with balance via cash on arrival. (Please mark PayPal payments as: "Friends or Family"). There is further information on this under: "Resources."
No checks, please.
*If a client is given generally available information of any medical complications being possible from ingesting sacred plant medicine, due to a physical condition they might have or a medication they may be taking, it is entirely the responsibility of the client to contact their own medical provider, who then must give any order to take action on that information. The above information is not medical care, nor is it intended to function as medical care. Clients cannot depend on this information as medical advice. The retired physician associated with Beyond Institute is acting only in the capacity of a Medicine Person, as are others in the group, and not a licensed provider of medical care.
